We can’t believe MommyCon Chicago 2019 is already over! The weekend was jam-packed with shopping, speakers, entertainment, activities, and of course all the cuddly babies you could ask for. Attendees getting to spend time in an environment that is supportive of moms and dads growing and learning how to be moms and dads.
We kicked off MommyCon Chicago VIP Day on Friday afternoon. Attendees got their gift bags at registration and were fawning over their new Ju-Ju-Be bags! They were stuffed with items from Baby Tula, Re-Play, Bioderma, and so much more. The gift bag even came with a Cybex Yema carrier!
We had some fantastic sessions where we got to hear presenters from Naked Panda, Weston A. Price, KinderCare, and even MommyCon’s founder, Xza! There were a couple giveaways during the sessions and winners were beyond excited when they heard their ticket number called.
At night we opened up the Exhibitor Hall for a fun Sip & Shop experience. Guests were treated to a special preview of the brands while sipping on wine, beer or mocktails, which were perfect for expecting mothers. After a little shopping, everyone headed home to get some rest for Saturday.
We started bright and early the next morning with attendees registering and deciding what they would put on their badges. Some guests wrote their occupation, some wrote that they were pregnant and some got creative using the clothing they were wearing.
Since we are definitely a family oriented event, we saw a lot of guests bring their extended family. We loved seeing dads, aunts, grandmas and even great grandmas join in on all the fun.
Attendees really loved utilizing our Event Elements. We brought back some old ones and even added some new. One guest said her favorite part every year is the Babywearing Lounge because the volunteers have helped her two years in a row with all questions and becoming more confident in babywearing. One of the educators said, “It’s always wonderful when people walk away feeling confident with the choice they made in the end!”
Some other amazing things we saw were mamas constantly in and out of the Feeding Lounge. This is an area that we designate for caregivers to nourish their little ones in a relaxed environment whether they are breastfeeding, pumping or bottle feeding.
We also had the Cybex Famiy Lounge in the Exhibitor Hall for attendees to stop by, get a flower crown, try on a carrier and relax for a little while in between all the shopping.
On Saturday and Sunday, we also had DaddyCon going on. Some dads were brought to MommyCon by their wife on a MommyCon ticket and were elated to learn that DaddyCon was also there. We saw lots of eager dads checking out sessions, shopping in the exhibitor hall, and spending some quality time with their little ones.
We had sessions for dads on tips for disciplining, birth choices and making memories with your kids. Our attendees loved having sessions tailored specifically to them and how they are as a parent.
For the last session of the day, we brought back The Baby Games, presented by Dyper, for some friendly caregiver competition. To win a month supply of diapers, attendees needed to quickly and properly change a baby bum. There may have been a couple blowouts. The next round was to pack a Ju-Ju-Be diaper bag without putting multiple supplies in the same pocket. Loved ones would chime in from the audience giving tips to our competitors on how to pack the bag better.
The final round included elements from the first two with the added challenge of baby stroller drag racing! We moved out into the hallway to give the racers some room. With the dropping of a diaper, they were off; swiftly removing the old diaper, putting on a fresh one, safely buckling baby into the Micralite stroller and zooming to the finish line. The crowd went wild with cheers as we crowned our winner.
The day was not yet over because we headed downstairs for a Ju-Ju-Be Pink Lady Get Together! Guest grabbed some snacks, mingled with fellow Ju-Ju-Be lovers, and played some bingo for prizes. We even had a mom win a prize while breastfeeding!
After the party, attendees headed out to get ready for another full day on Sunday.
The day started off with more shopping in the exhibitor hall. Attendees found breastmilk jewlery from Precious Milk Drops, carriers at Baby Tula, and a milkable cow at the Elvie booth! Kids had a blast playing with the cow.
We had some more amazing sessions throughout the day including Groovaroo. Caregivers strapped on their little ones and were moving and grooving to fun songs. For those with some picky eaters at home, Ms. Dawn from ezpz was there to give them some tips and tricks.
