All events on this schedule for MommyCon Orlando take place at the Caribe Royale Convention Center (8101 World Center Dr., Orlando, FL 32821). This is a preview schedule and exhibitor list. Additional sessions and exhibitors may be added and will be announced approximately 30 days before the event.

Speaker: Dr. Nicole Avena, Assistant Professor Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Visiting Professor Princeton University
In this presentation, nutrition researcher and psychologist (and Mom), Dr. Nicole Avena, will discuss the newest research findings about the importance of good nutrition in the first 1000 days of life (from conception through age 2). She will discuss ways you can promote good eating habits in your baby from early on, including methods that have been used to encourage babies to like the tastes of vegetables. She will also discuss some of the latest research on limiting added sugar intake, as well as food allergies and when you should introduce foods to your baby.

Speaker: Xza Higgins
Facebook Groups are a free tool that allow like-minded people to get together and discuss their passions. Xza will share how a simple Facebook group changed her perception of parenthood and how it guided her in creating MommyCon.

Paulo Coelho said, “Love is just a word, until someone comes along and gives it meaning.” Ever consider that this someone can, be You?! Self-Love can be hard to digest and even more difficult to incorporate into your life, especially if you don’t know what it means to you. Join in, on learning how to accomplish integrating self-love into your life by first identifying and exploring the emotional blocks that are depriving you from your right to self-love. Then, learn to eradicate these blocks and replace them with five different ways self-love can manifest. This promises to be an introspective adventure that unveils the secret to becoming a more mindful mom: Self-Love!

This satirical and honest session with Mat and Jordan York will let you find out how this couple of 10 years has used parenting naturally as a way to manage their relationship. From having 3 kids in 4 years to starting their own business, they’ve found the humor and a recipe for not killing each other even when times are tough.


3:00PM-3:45PM  Groovaroo: Bonding Through Dance
Speaker: Elizabeth Wright
This interactive session will focus on the holistic health benefits for both parent and child that come from babywearing dance. Bring your partner, friends and your baby to groove with us while learning about these benefits. Like the heart to heart bond formed in the womb, babywearing dance synchronizes the wearer and the child while releasing hormones that create a strong feeling of connection and love. The other focus of this session will be demonstrating that dancing can break down walls and build community for both new and experienced parents, resulting in a fun and supportive “tribe” for your family!

3:00PM-3:45PM  Beyond the Mom: Pursuing Your Dreams After Baby
Speaker: Stephanie Daniel and Nicole Zezzo
Becoming a parent is is the most amazing experience, both fulfilling and exhausting, who could ask for more? But….what if you *do* want to ask for more? Come join us to discuss how to keep developing your passions and even turn them into a career WITH your little one. We will discuss the three hurdles that rear their ugly faces at every turn: Guilt, Self Doubt and Lack of Support, and ways to combat them and form a support system with your loved ones. An uplifting atmosphere welcomes all questions during the session, we look forward to meeting you!


4:00PM-4:45PM  ***VIP SESSION***  The Parenting Trifecta – Self-Care, Children, Partner with Christy and Geoff Malone presented by Smart Bottoms
Speaker: Christy and Geoff Malone
As parents, it’s easy to focus all of your time and energy on your children, leaving little left to invest in yourself or your relationship with your partner. Geoff and Christy Malone are going to discuss how they’ve worked through common parenting pitfalls to create a healthy lifestyle (physical, mental, emotional, and relational) for their family. Married for over 15 years and parents to two pre-teen daughters, Geoff and Christy will share their personal experiences, encourage attendees to recognize when to ask for help, and provide suggestions on how to take small steps towards things like self-care and improving your relationship with your partner.

In addition, Ms. Dawn will teach four common mistakes parents make that can cause food refusal and learn practical tips to help your child learn to try, eat and enjoy a variety of foods!

Babywearing 101 is a comprehensive overview of baby carrier safety and an assortment of carriers including the meh dai, soft structured carrier, woven wrap, stretch wrap, hybrid wrap, ring sling, wrap conversion, and custom carrier options.

Speaker: Kim Rosas
Check your skepticism at the door for this workshop on switching to reusable fem-care by self-proclaimed #vagangelist Kim Rosas. Whether you are cup or cloth curious you will find answers to your most TMI questions about what it’s really like to go green on your period. Kim will be giving a live demo of a menstrual cup insertion and removal using “Virginia,” a clear vagina-like tube. For cloth curious mamas she’ll go over the basics so you’ll be prepared to make the switch. There will be a Q+A at the end. Bring a good sense of humor plus an open mind and you may just become a #vagangelist too!

When it comes to discussing birth choices and making birth plans, dads can feel a little out of the loop! In this panel, experienced fathers will discuss birth choices from home birth to planned c-section and everything in between! They will also discuss ways to support your partner, no matter your birth plan or situation.


11:15AM-12:00PM  Nurturing the Development of your Baby’s Brain through Movement and Exploration
Speaker: Shannon Davis
As a mother and pediatric physical therapist, Shannon has learned a lot about the development of babies. This class provides an introduction to the development of a baby’s nerves, muscles and brain beginning in utero to age 3. Parents will understand and learn the importance of gross motor activities in the development of the early brain. We will also look at how much a baby needs to move each day to ensure optimal brain development.

Jess and Alisa, both Certified Babywearing Educators, will show you wrapping basics starting with stretchy wraps and then graduating to woven wraps. In this introductory interactive session, participants are shown how to do a front carry. Wraps and baby dolls are provided for demo purposes for use during this session.

11:15AM-12:00PM Loss Mama Sanctuary
Speaker: Ambyr Amen-Ra
This session is dedicated to helping mamas work through the many emotions that come with the loss of a baby at various stages of pregnancy and childbirth. We will talk about creating a safe spiritual space, wherever mom is, that allows her to feel, work through, and move past her feelings of deep grief. We’ll incorporate deep breathing and movement that will open up the energy centers and allow positive energy to flow. We’ll go over some mantras that mamas can say whenever they feel stressed and will encourage peace and hope. We will discuss pregnancy, birth and parenting after loss. The goal is to offer mamas a space to talk about their experiences and walk away with tools to help them through the anxiety that often comes post loss. There may be some tears – but by the end – there should also be joy.
