5 Family Activities in NYC

There are a ton of activities and sightseeing opportunities in New York City. If you are from New York or traveling into the city for MommyCon NYC, we have compiled a list of our Top 5 things to do.

Gazillion Bubble Show

Come check out some unique bubble artistry created for all ages. Fan Yang and the Gazillion Bubble Show have called New York their home for over 10 years. Yang and his entire family can be found on the New York stage and around the world performing their bubble tricks. “Mind-blowing bubble magic, spectacular laser lighting effects, and momentary soapy masterpieces will make you smile, laugh, and feel like a kid again!”

Snug Harbor

Just a short trip on the Staten Island Ferry will transport you to a New York park like you’ve never seen before. Snug Harbor attractions include the Staten Island Children’s Museum, the New York Chinese Scholar’s Garden, the Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden and more. Museum educators lead visitors through hands-on exhibits, craft projects, as well as song and dance activities. On the grounds you can also find the Connie Gretz Secret Garden based on Frances Hodgson Burnett’s classic novel. At the end of the hedge maze, there’s a rose garden and miniature castle young guests greatly enjoy.

Children’s Museum of Manhattan

A place for kids old and young is the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. The older ones can go inside a giant sized body to crawl through a digestive system, pup a giant heart, burn energy by ducking lasers and balancing on a beam all in the name of learning about a healthier lifestyle. For the little ones, there’s a exhibit that combines learning with play to prepare children to enter school. They can interact with a talking dragon, climb on fire trucks and busses, and play in sand. CMOM’s newest exhibit is called ‘Hello From Japan!’ and teaches children about how old and new traditions coexist in modern day Tokyo.

Central Park (Zoo)

Take a stroll through the most visited urban park in the United States. The park has been around for over a decade and a half and is one of the most filmed locations in the world! Just a few of the attractions include the Belvedere Castle, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Carousel. The park houses many famous sculptures, structures and exhibitions like Alice in Wonderland, Duke Ellington’s Memorial and Strawberry Fields. Don’t forget to check out the Central Park Zoo, the first official zoo to open in New York. There you can find an indoor rain forest, a chilled penguin house, a snow leopard exhibit and much more.

Puppetworks

This is a non profit organization that puts on low-tech puppet performances. The founder adapts classic stories for his handmade marionettes and hand puppets in an intimate theater where kids sit front and center while parents watch from benches in the back. The weekend of MommyCon NYC, Goldilocks & the 3 Bears will be playing. This performance is only happening Saturday and Sunday so get your tickets now to see a one of a kind show.
