Picnics are always fun to have on the weekends, especially during the Summer. Usually my family and I tend to head to a splash pad, the beach, or just hang out in the backyard. I know that when we think of snacks to grab to have a picnic, the first thing we tend to grab are potato chips or baby carrots and dip. In an effort to be more creative, I have learned that there are many different ways to make some really delicious picnic food! Bonus? They only take 5 minutes or less!
Below are two of my all-time favorite picnic in the park recipes for my kids:
Strawberry-Orange-Veggie Cheese Kabobs (Makes 4 Kabobs)
-1 Cup of Strawberries
-1 Slice of Veggie Cheese
Directions: Slice the strawberries (I usually slice my strawberries in 4, since I have a 2 yr old and a 5 yr old. However you can keep them whole for older children.) Grab a strawberry, an orange slice, and a piece of cheese and slide onto the straw. Repeat this step until your straw is full, I usually let my kids make the Kabobs. It is always a fun time, and they feel super proud that they helped me create a fun and delicious snack!
Blueberry Cream Cheese Graham Cracker Sandwiches (Makes 4 Sandwiches)
-1/2 cup of Blueberries
-1/3 cup of Cream Cheese
-8 Graham Crackers
Directions: In a bowl mix your Blueberries and Cream cheese. Next, grab the mix and spread it on one of the graham crackers. Then, place the other graham cracker on top to make a sandwich. I like to let the kids do the mixing and the spreading! I recommend putting these in a small storage container for on the go because they can get a bit messy.
