1:30PM-2:30PM Branding 101
Speaker: Xza Higgins
Whether you are your brand, or your brand needs a facelift, this session will delve into the keys to branding a business or person at any stage. We will touch on social media, content creation and relaying a consistent image. Much of this session will be Q&A based so come prepared with questions or listen in on what your fellow attendees are curious about. Xza Higgins is most notably the founder & CEO of MommyCon, and brings a dozen years of branding and identity experience to the table as she previously developed and implemented branding plans for female small businesses in Chicago. Prior to that she worked in the hospitality industry on launching a new hotel brand in the Chicago area. Tickets are $5.00 and are on sale now!

2:30PM-3:30PM Toddler Parent Support Group
Speaker: Niki Hughes
Is your toddler driving you up the wall? Do you desperately need adult interaction? Join us for an hour of chit chat where we can commiserate over the toddlerhood adventure. If you BYOB we won’t judge you… really, we will just want to be your friend. Tickets are $5.00 and are on sale now!

3:30PM-4:45PM Not Your Momma’s Baby Shower VIP presented by Ameda
Speaker: Jessica Martin-Weber
Please join Jessica Martin-Weber from The Leaky Boob & Ameda for a VIP event for everyone! Though the theme is “Not Your Momma’s Baby Shower”, it is not just for expecting moms. Be there or be square, this event is for all the hip, cool cat moms and moms-to-be! Think 1950’s ice cream parlor with food, games, prizes, along with some fun surprises! The event will be live on Facebook and we will have Ameda Aunties available to help with your littles. Vintage style threads are optional; prizes will be awarded! Tickets are $50.00 and are on sale now!

4:45PM-5:45PM: Introduction to Back Wrapping with Alisa DeMarco
Alisa DeMarco is the creator of Tekhni Wovens and is a Certified Babywearing Consultant with the Center for Babywearing Studies. She will be teaching attendees how to back carry using woven wraps. Experience wrapping is required to attend the class. Having a baby at the class is not required, however all babies being back wrapped must be at least six months old. The wearer must have mastered at least one front carry in a woven wrap. This is not a 101 class. Every person who attends this class will also be eligible to receive $10.00 off the purchase of a wrap or ring sling from the Tekhni booth on Saturday, July 22nd. You must attend the session to be eligible. Tickets are $5.00 and are on sale now!

Speaker: Dr. Shannon Davis PT, DPT
As a mother and pediatric physical therapist, Shannon has learned a lot about the development of babies. This class provides an introduction to the development of a baby’s nerves, muscles and brain beginning in utero to age 3. Parents will understand and learn the importance of gross motor activities in the development of the early brain. We will also look at how much a baby needs to move each day to ensure optimal brain development.

Are you tired of people questioning your goal of having a natural childbirth?  Tiffany has been there and is in your corner. Find out how the Bradley Method not only allowed her to have an amazing birth experience but also gave ger husband the tools he needed to be her birthing coach. Tiffany and her husband believe that more dads would be involved in the birthing process if they knew how they could be of help. She hopes sthat by sharing her story you will be encouraged and leave with resources that will help you achieve your natural child birthing goals.

Xza will share how she built a social media community in 2012 and how it has evolved and changed over the years. With over 80,000 fans, Xza has learned a thing or two about creating quality content and keeping your message engaging and authentic. She will share some tips to consider and what there is to know about venturing into paid advertising on social media.

9:30AM-10:15AM Babywearing 101 presented by Ergobaby
Speaker: Laura Brown
Laura is a certified babywearing educator as well as an educator and community outreach specialist for Ergobaby. Babywearing 101 is a comprehensive overview of baby carrier safety and an assortment of carriers including the meh dai, soft structured carrier, woven wrap, stretch wrap, hybrid wrap, ring sling, wrap conversion, and custom carrier options.

9:30AM-10:15AM Turning Red to Green – A Menstruation Workshop on Making the Switch to Reusables
Speaker: Kim Rosas
Check your skepticism at the door for this workshop on switching to reusable fem-care by self-proclaimed #vagangelist Kim Rosas. Whether you are cup or cloth curious you will find answers to your most TMI questions about what it’s really like to go green on your period. Kim will be giving a live demo of a menstrual cup insertion and removal using “Virginia,” a clear vagina-like tube. For cloth curious mamas she’ll go over the basics so you’ll be prepared to make the switch. There will be a Q+A at the end. Bring a good sense of humor plus an open mind and you may just become a #vagangelist too!

Speaker: Rebecca Michi
During this session, Rebecca will discuss what is normal when it comes to sleep for children ages 12-24 months. There will be time to ask Rebecca all of your questions related to normal sleep, gentle sleep training and ways to get the best possible night’s sleep.

Finding the right preschool is a challenge. This presentation will give you a run down on the types of preschools and how to decide if they are a right fit for your child’s learning style. She will go over questions to ask in interviews, and how to make that first day a success.

A companion workshop to “Turning Red to Green”, natural menstrual pioneers Madeleine Shaw and Suzanne Siemens of Lunapads present a lively, interactive workshop about the changing conversation about periods, body positive messaging for our kids, and why cloth pads and leakproof underwear are riding a crimson wave of popularity for periods and bladder leakage.

CtMM will be talking about her favorite baby gear to get you through the first year, her top nursing picks and what is new in the baby market. Partnering with Westcoast Kids. Carmen is a mom of 4 kids ranging from One year old to Nineteen! Having spent her twenties and early thirties owning baby stores in Canada she has knowledge that comes with more than reading manuals!

12:25PM-1:20PM Becoming a Potty Training Maverick
Speaker: Natasha Beekman
Natasha will be presenting info on all things potty training, including why it’s so scary! Come learn what it takes to potty train, and leave empowered to get the job done.

Speaker: Kevin Higgins
Kevin Higgins, Special Educator and spouse of MommyCon founder Xza, talks about the growth men undergo when moving from dude to dad. Kevin provides a sympathetic look on the clumsy process some guys undergo as they upack their role in the partnership of parenting. From the type of birth your wife wants, looking at strollers instead of hot rods, schooling questions, how does a dishwasher work and which parent will most likely explode during an IEP meeting this talk and symposium is open to all gender and partner models. His loving wife has prohibited the past practice of supplying beer and hot dogs, but there may be sports updates and there will definitely be some cool dad friendly giveaways. Hint: nipple cream is excellent for tattoos.

12:25PM-1:20PM Wrapping 101 presented by Tekhni Wovens
Speaker: Alisa DeMarco and Laura Brown
Certified Babywearing Educators show you how to babywear using woven wraps. In this interactive session, participants are each shown how to use a wrap to front carry and back carry. Wraps and baby dolls are provided for demo purposes for use during this session.

1:30PM-2:15PM Let Them Eat Dirt: Raising Your Child in an Over Sanitized World
Speaker: B. Brett Finley
This session would describe the concept of raising children with their microbes. We have been very hygienic, but new scientific data suggests that we have been too clean, and this is affecting allergies, asthma, obesity, diabetes, brain development, etc. The session would discuss the hygiene hypothesis, followed by what we now know about the role of microbes in child health during pregnancy, delivery, breast feeding, and raising your child. It is based on science, but presented in lay person terms, and will suggest various things parents can do to benefit their child’s health via their microbes. It would be based on similar concepts described in Let Them Eat Dirt, a new book just out.

3:00PM-4:00PM Prepare to Push: What Your Pelvic Floor and Abdomen Want You to Know About Pregnancy and Birth
Speaker: Kim Vopni
This session will highlight points from my book of the same title. The pelvic floor and abdomen are two parts of the body that undergo significant change and often do not get the attention they deserve. Women need to get to know their pelvic floor and core on a whole new level and train their bodies for birth. Just like any physical event, birth is something that needs to be trained for and recovered from. The 6 week green light and mommy bootcamp classes are not serving new moms. Let’s prepare women to push and highlight the importance of recovery as well so they can have an empowered birth, a supported recovery and have core confidence for motherhood.
