You must have a general admission ticket (or equivalent) in order to upgrade with one or more VIP sessions. Speaker: Jessica Martin-Weber
Join Jessica Martin-Weber, the mother behind The Leaky Boob, for a guilt-free afternoon practicing and investigating why the oxygen mask principle is an important part of your parenting journey. Each attendee will walk away with a self-care take-home box and the Ameda team will be there to help pamper you through stories, great products and to entertain your littles while you focus on pampering yourself! 4:45PM-5:450PM An Objective Look at Branding Your Brand & You
Speaker: Xza Higgins and Mat York
Whether you are your brand, or your brand needs a facelift, this session will delve into the keys to branding a business or person at any stage. We will touch on social media, content creation and relaying a consistent image. Much of this session will be Q&A based so come prepared with questions or listen in on what your fellow attendees are curious about. Tickets are available here.

9:30AM-10:15AM Nurturing the Development of Your Baby’s Brain Through Movement and Exploration
Speaker: Shannon Davis
As a mother and pediatric physical therapist, Shannon has learned a lot about the development of babies. This class provides an introduction to the development of a baby’s nerves, muscles and brain beginning in utero to age 3. Parents will understand and learn the importance of gross motor activities in the development of the early brain. We will also look at how much a baby needs to move each day to ensure optimal brain development.

9:30AM-10:15AM Elimination Communication – We Make EC Easy!
Speaker: Lydia Chan
Elimination Communication is a gentle parenting approach to responding to a baby’s natural pottying needs. EC, also known as baby-led potty training, has been around long before diapers were invented and is practiced in many parts of Asia and Africa. This workshop will cover the basics of what EC is, when and how to get started with baby-led potty training, and learning how to recognize your baby’s cues to establish a successful connection and going diaper free!

Becoming a parent is hard! Once the excitement wears off you have 9, no 10 months to figure out the rest of your life. The rest of your life!This session discusses ways to balance your new life, how to be really honest with yourself, embracing change, and a whole lot of grace. You are not alone and you will find balance. Just breathe and believe.

Laura is a certified babywearing educator as well as an educator and community outreach specialist for Ergobaby. Babywearing 101 is a comprehensive overview of baby carrier safety and an assortment of carriers including the mei tai, soft structured carrier, woven wrap, stretch wrap, hybrid wrap, ring sling, wrap conversion, and custom carrier options.

9:30AM-10:15AM Turning Red to Green – A Menstruation Workshop on Making the Switch to Reusables
Speaker: Kim Rosas
Check your skepticism at the door for this workshop on switching to reusable fem-care by self-proclaimed #vagangelist Kim Rosas. Whether you are cup or cloth curious you will find answers to your most TMI questions about what it’s really like to go green on your period. Kim will be giving a live demo of a menstrual cup insertion and removal using “Virginia,” a clear vagina-like tube. For cloth curious mamas she’ll go over the basics so you’ll be prepared to make the switch. There will be a Q+A at the end. Bring a good sense of humor plus an open mind and you may just become a #vagangelist too!

Join CEO and Founder Jenn Labit as she shares the Cotton Babies story and an introduction to cloth diapering products, wash routines, and accessories that will make your life easier as a parent. This session is a must-see for both cloth-curious attendees and those who are Cotton Babies fans!

10:30AM-11:30AM Raising Multi-Racial Children in an Attached Parenting World
Speaker: Isreal Jean Holland
This session will not only center Natural and Attached Parenting but it will center children of multiple races. This topic will discuss the visibility of families of color who also practice attached parenting. This conversation will open the door for inclusiveness.

10:30AM-11:30AM Babies at the Barre™ presented by Belabumbum
Speaker: Tori Levine
Babies at the Barre™ offers safe exercise for new moms that is done while wearing and bonding with baby. This mommy and me style class is a mix of basic ballet and pilates exercises completed at the ballet barre and on the floor. Exercises focus on rebuilding strength in the abdominals and pelvic floor as well as increasing flexibility, and toning arms, core, calves, and buns all while bonding with baby. No prior dance or pilates experience is required to participate in class. Classes offer a judgement free zone where new moms can exercise and share the joys and challenges of mommy-hood in a supportive community of other new moms.

Join Dr. Colleen Carroll in an information packed session where she will discuss: why the typical approach of asking a child to read backfires (and turns into nagging as the child gets older) and what to do instead that will make an immediate difference in your child’s interest in reading; Simple ways you can help your child want to pick up a book and read it – without you even talking about it; How to hook your child now to become a lifelong reader while minimizing all the digital distractions that are available in and outside of the home.

Learn the history of the Meh Dai, ways to teach the Meh Dai and further understand the knowledge surrounding this age-old and wildly popular carrier.

10:30AM-11:30AM Prepare to Push
Speaker: Samantha Montpetit-Huynh
Prepare to Push was created to help give you all the tools to prepare your body for pregnancy, birth and recovery. Samantha will tell you what is missing in current prenatal classes that primarily focus on the baby – this is about mom. Her focus is to talk about the stuff no one else will, particularly diastasis rectus abdomins (DRA) and pelvic floor dysfunction. Women often go back to regular exercise way too soon. They are given the green light at their 6 week doctor appointment and then jump at the chance to get their pre-baby body back. This puts mom at risk for further dysfunction down the road. Once you have had a baby, you are always postpartum. You need prepare your body for the physiological changes that occur during pregnancy and retrain before you train to ensure you have a strong foundation on which to build after the baby is born.

Speaker: Rebecca Michi
During this session, Rebecca will discuss what is normal when it comes to sleep for children ages 0-12 months. There will be time to ask Rebecca all of your questions related to normal sleep, gentle sleep training and ways to get the best possible night’s sleep.

1:00PM-1:50PM Using Sign Language to Support Gentle Parenting
Speaker: Jessica Berrins
We all want a calm, peaceful home with calm, peaceful children. Teaching your children sign language will help support the attachment between child and parent to create a nurturing environment where your child will feel respected, safe, and understood. In this workshop you will learn signs to help you and your child reduce frustration and practice reflective communication as well as improving your interactions with your child as they grow into a mindful human being.

1:00PM-1:50PM Loss Mama Sanctuary
Speaker: Ambyr Amen-Ra
This session is dedicated to helping mamas work through the many emotions that come with the loss of a baby at various stages of pregnancy and childbirth. We will talk about creating a safe spiritual space, wherever mom is, that allows her to feel, work through, and move past her feelings of deep grief. We’ll incorporate deep breathing and movement that will open up the energy centers and allow positive energy to flow. We’ll go over some mantras that mamas can say whenever they feel stressed and will encourage peace and hope. We will discuss pregnancy, birth and parenting after loss. The goal is to offer mamas a space to talk about their experiences and walk away with tools to help them through the anxiety that often comes post loss. There may be some tears – but by the end – there should also be joy.

Beth Kobliner, author of MAKE YOUR KID A MONEY GENIUS (EVEN IF YOU’RE NOT), and expert on kids and money, calls attention to one of the biggest problems in financial literacy today: the money gap. Studies show that parents are more inclined to talk to boys more than girls about money. Furthermore, parents believe boys better understand the value of a dollar. Beth will explore the reasons for this gender disparity, address the effects it has on your child’s future finances, and offer practical ways to help parents teach both boys and girls how to develop good money skills.

Did you have your baby and still look pregnant? Do you have a “shelf” over your cesarean scar? Or do you have back pain, pelvic pain, incontinence, or prolapse after birth? Some of these common symptoms during or after pregnancy can come from a separation of the abdominal muscles, weak core muscles, or cesarean scar adhesions. Dr. Whitney will discuss how to check if you have any of these conditions and give you quick and easy exercises to start getting that belly back!

Giveaways: Due to space constrictions, there will not be a giveaways session at MommyCon NYC. But don’t fret! There will still be fabulous giveaways of items from our amazing sponsors. When you check into the event, you will be given a numbered badge. These numbers will be entered into a drawing for the giveaways. There will be two drawings, one before lunch and one after. We will post the winning numbers in the MommyCon NYC Facebook group as well as post a printed list at registration. You must be on-site to collect your prize and all prizes must be picked up by 4:00pm. If any prizes are left over at 4:15pm, we will do a second chance raffle via raffle tickets distributed at registration.
